Atmosphere
Distracting me from the oak trees is a building whose architecture makes me
stop and think. The roof has classic arches and points that alone separate it from the
other edifices that surround it. What amazes me if the feeling that washes over me
when I view this building. It intrigues me because I wonder about its history. What
was this building before it was Oaks Bed and Breakfast? Was it a boarding home,
was it some rich guy’s summerhouse, or does it have no interesting history? These
questions elude me without research, but I don’t mind not knowing what it was in
the past. Probably because some mysteries are better left alone, and I appreciate the
atmosphere it adds to Jamestown.
I wrote specifically about Oaks Bed and Breakfast because it was recommended to me and it honestly is a great little building. It is different and I am sure under-appreciated in the town, like many other things. I enjoy the cute factor that the town has, but wish more buildings were in the spotlight.
