Memory Lane

I am sitting outside feeling the warm golden sun on my face. The bright green grass

and beautiful red and orange marigolds remind me of all the wonderful memories

I’ve had at this place. I gaze up at the bright blue sky watching the birds fly by. I

decide to start wandering down the ancient, dark red brick road; I try to imagine

what it was like 20 years ago. I head toward the rippling gray- blue stream and

grasp a smooth gray pebble and skip it. Thinking about the future that my children

will grow up in. But for now, all I have is today and that is fine by me. This is my

now. Here, at this place. In this great town.

I live on an old brick road near Allen Park creek. During the summer I love to sit outside on my porch and enjoy the sun and outdoors. I have a small garden where our marigolds are planted. My friends and I will go for a walk to the creek and on enjoy the nature and cooling stream. I think about what it was like before all the paving and noisy city life and then think about what it will be like in the future. I enjoy my daily life though and wouldn’t change anything.

Dancing In The Streets

As I hear the feet scuffling and loud commotion on the stage I start to gain

butterflies. I rush down the hall, feeling the cool breeze against my face. I open the

dressing room door and join my friends. As we are getting prepared we hear “to

stage in 5 minutes” and the nerves kick in. We make our way to the stage, peering

behind the curtains to look at the crowd waiting for us. As the lights go dark and the

crowd quiets down we step onto the stage, take a deep breath, and try to remember

the steps. The curtains slowly open and the spotlights are glistening on our faces.

The music begins; this is our opportunity to shine.

I have been dancing since as long as I can remember. I have always loved the joy it brings to me as I learn new steps and figure out that when you put them together with music how truly amazing the end product can be. Dance has also given me great friends that I have a lot of fun with and also wonderful memories with that I’ll keep with me forever. I have gained confidence through performing on stage even though it’s with a large or small group of people.
