Stranger
Stranger,
You don’t know me
You haven’t seen my backyard
You haven’t traced my memories
You weren’t there when my favorite restaurant burned down,
Or when I found true love that turned out to be not so true
You don’t know me.
If you were to try and open my heart you’d see a small Town
A Town where your best friend lives just up the road
A Town where you can find love in a coffee shop
Where the summer nights dance with you under the stars in your backyard
A town that strings together the young and old,
That brings mine and many others childhood memories back to life just by seeing the old building where their favorite restaurant used to be.
My inspiration for this piece was other people’s tendency to judge people when they don’t know them. I used my childhood memories such as my memories of Cala’s restaurant to explain my childhood. My childhood till now can only only be described in one word, Jamestown. Living here for my whole life I’ve had many adventures that I’ll never forget and that truly define who I am. Therefore when people see me they may only see just a face, not what I really am, which is Jamestown.
