Memories

Dear Mom and Dad,

It seems as though,

one day I may have to go

to someplace else.

But on my way I’ll recognize,

the changes that have shaped my life.

How circling through the willow trees,

and studying shadows on sides of streets,

and spending days with the ones I meet,

formed the person I came to be.

And as I glance back on my life,

the trails I’ve tread,

the wrongs and rights,

I’ll remember these days vividly.

For it was them that made me, me.

The inspiration for this piece came from the memories I carry from my childhood.  The certain events and people I came into contact to left large impressions that shaped the way I thought in the future.  I feel that every day has its lesson that’ll impact my life in some way down the road.  This is a thanks to my parents, and Jamestown, for providing these experiences for me.

Grandma’s House

If I were to think of the happiest time of my life, my thoughts most likely would drift to summers at my grandparent’s house.  The warmth and stillness of the season combined with the love and excitement my family cast in order to make each visit a miraculous one.  I remember feeling my happiest while creating games to play with my cousins in the field, or helping my grandmother tend her beautiful garden.  And as those days slowly slip away from me, I think about them more and more.  The thought brings a smile to my face and the warmness back to my heart.  All I hope for in the future, is a family to share that love with again.

The inspiration for this piece came from the wonderful times I spent at my grandparent’s house as a child.  Whenever I went over, it was sure to be an enjoyable time.  It served the purpose of escaping any troubles I faced back at home.  Those days drew me close to my family, leaving a huge impact on who I became.  I owe a lot to my family, and my time spent with them.
